Is this the end?
November 1, 2024
March 28th marks the fifth anniversary of the release of our first single, “The Black Plague”. Covid had just started hitting America and I quickly reacted by writing this song. I was in the midst of getting ready to release our self titled album “Warpriest” and about to celebrate my 50th birthday when the lockdown happened. I looked to the the black plague of the medieval times as inspiration for the lyrics, which on a deeper level are about how sin leads to our spiritual death and separation from God. Only putting our faith in atoning death of Jesus Christ can cleanse us from this stain. With the anniversary we are putting out a color shirt designed by Robert. See the shirt here in our shop. Not only that but we remastered the song and uploaded it to Bandcamp.
LYRICS
A shadow creeps across the lands,
breaking apart the world of man;
a stain upon our pale white flesh,
that spice and herbs can not refresh.
Bar your doors and bow your heads,
hope to God they don’t count you dead;
no deeds of great can save your soul,
as Death arrives for his due toll.
CHORUS
The Black Plague around us
The Black Plague is here
Who will clean our souls and
save us from despair
Swarm of fleas they bite your skin,
festering the boils of your sin;
The night air filled with bitterness,
A fever from the serpents kiss.
Wash your hands and clean your hearts,
mourn and wail and grieve apart;
cry out to God for mercy’s sake,
before the hour gets too late!
